Green Apprenticeship Program with NYCHA
In addition to providing NYCHA residents with energy savings, the Community Power installer, Accord Power, hired 15 NYCHA residents as apprentices to work on the solar installations. The goal of the Green Apprenticeship program is to ensure that NYCHA residents are able to build their knowledge and experience in the solar industry in order to secure long-term employment opportunities, while adding credible employees to Accord Power’s team.
Where will be NYCHA Green Apprentices be working?
The solar installations will be built on the roof of three NYCHA developments: Carver, Glenwood, and Kingsborough. You do not have to live at Carver, Glenwood, or Kingsborough to sign up for Community Power. Community Power is open to any NYCHA resident who pays a Con Edison bill. Check out the pictures below to see how the installations are going!
